Daddy's Girl

My Dearest Rebekah,

Two whole months as a father and I am still blown away at how amazing it is to hold you in my arms. You brighten my day more than any amount of sun ever could.  It is incredible how much you have grown in just this short amount of time.  You have gotten much better at holding you head up on your own. No more slamming your forehead into my shoulder.  Smiles are more consistently found upon your beautiful face, and not just because you have gas.

A few people have given you the title of "Daddy's Girl". I suppose it could be due to the fact that we are beginning to resemble each other. You have my dark hair and olive skin tone. We also have our spot, where I hold you in my arms with your head resting on my shoulder. All the world for you to view.  You rest peacefully as I rock you to sleep, then lay you down and wish upon you endless sweet dreams. Yeah, it would be safe to say that we have gotten this daddy-daughter thing down pretty well.

But, to be truthful, it is not me whom I wish for you to take after. I am an imperfect person. Vastly falling short in so many areas of my life.  It is our Creator in heaven that I so long for you to call Father.  Through His strength and guidance, I am able to give you and your mother all of the love you desire. God is the One whom I strive to imitate.  His love to be my love.

So keep growing strong and beautiful my daughter. Always remember that there is nothing you can ever do to stop your fathers from loving you. You will always be a Daddy's Girl.

-Daddy
