For some people change is a hard thing to cope with. We develop routines. Grow relationships. To upend the comfortable life we establish can be a difficult thing to have to do. It was no different for your mother and I when we moved to Alexandria. It is the fall of 2012 and you are only four months old. I was offered a position as Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries at FUMC Alexandria. This was such a big step for me. So much to think about. Where do we live? Will we like it there? Is this where we are supposed to be? To be completely honest with you... I was terrified!
But, I did the only thing that made any sense at all. I trusted God. Your mom and I felt that He was calling us to Alexandria. There was something here that He needed us to do. Something He wanted us to be a part of. Some part of His Kingdom He would use us to grow. My beautiful daughter, the only thing in life worth doing, is the thing God is calling us to do. Living in His will and by His plan will bring you true joy. It is not always easy or pleasant. But it is always worth it. My prayer is that you will always be willing to follow Christ in everything you do.
Things sure have changed since my last letter to you. We live in a new city. I have a new job. And you are rolling over. It won't be long before I'm chasing you around the house as you crawl all over. Keep growing strong and beautiful my baby girl. And always know that your father on earth and your Father in heaven love you so very much.
-Daddy
