The Path We Take

My dearest Rebekah,

I know that I have written to you before about how I stop and wonder who you will become.  It is an excitement for who God has called you to be and what He has called you to do. My daughter, He has created you to do amazing things for Him.  He brought you into existence to love you unconditionally and He has brought you into this world for a specific purpose.

Over the past few years, I have begun to understand God’s mission for me.  It is not always crystal clear what He wants me to do, but the more time that I spend with Him and in His word, the more I discover who He is and who He wants me to be.  From an early age, I knew that God was calling me to ministry.  He had given me a passion for helping others grow closer to Him.  I tried to do other things.  But none truly satisfied my heart.  Sometimes I question if I am doing what God wants me to do, and you will go through the same things during your life. But, I trust that He will continue to guide me.

You are created for a special reason.  What that purpose is, I do not know yet.  Only God knows. And it is for you and Him to figure out.  I promise to pray for you, and to do my very best to be an example of what it is like to seek God and follow His path.  I promise to help you follow God's path. My guidance and wisdom will at all times be available to you whenever you need it, and probably whenever you don’t want it. And I also make a  promise to you that  I will never pressure you to become what I want you to become.  I will not force you to follow in my footsteps or to pursue the path I desire for you.   Your path is your own.  And I know that God has an amazing one set out for you.  All you have to do is love Him, build a relationship with Him and He will guide and shape you.

You are growing up way to fast.  It is hard to believe that you are almost a year old. Where has my tiny, fragile baby gone? It seems like just yesterday you were sleeping all the time, and now you never stop moving.  Crawling everywhere.  Pulling yourself up on couches and chairs.  Developing a personality, and an attitude! But, it is so amazing to watch you learn and grow.  You are beautiful. Always remember that you are unconditionally loved by your Father in heaven and your father on earth.

-Daddy
