My Dearest Rebekah,
One of the most amazing things about being a father has got to be watching you learn. I remember the first time our eyes met as they laid you on your mother's chest and I told you how much I loved you, and how beautiful you were. Only a few seconds old, and you were already learning. As you looked at your mother and I, we could tell that you were figuring out that we had been the ones talking to you while you grew in the womb.
Since that day, you have learned to smile, pick your head up, roll over, grab everything within reach, and explore the house in your baby walker. Over the next few months, you will learn to crawl and walk. Then talking will become a new adventure for you in the years to come. It is hard to believe that you will be six months old tomorrow. Everyone tells you that "it goes by fast". "In the blink of an eye they are all grown up." I know that I give your mom a hard time about taking so many pictures, but between you and me, I am so glad she is able to capture the special moments. The smiles and the silly faces you make. Summer dresses, fall pumpkins, and the Christmas spirit.
There will be many things that you are going to learn. Walking, talking, potty training, riding a bike, long division, passionate worship of God, serving others, and the true meaning of love. But, the very first thing you ever learned was that I loved you. The first words you heard. The first reason you smiled. It brings me indescribable joy to see you learn. Keep growing strong and beautiful my precious daughter. And always know that
your father on earth and your Father in heaven love you so very much.
-Daddy
