My Dearest Rebekah,
Going into this whole parenting thing, I knew to expect
certain things. Poopie diapers, lack of
sleep, and more flexible scheduling are just a few. But, I
did not anticipate that you would have the ability to erase all stress from my
day. If finances consume my thoughts, all it takes is for you to light up with
that beautiful smile of yours. A giggle will transport any worry far, far away. You remind me that life is so much more than anxiety
and concern. So much more than bills or the economy. Life is about loving those
around you. It is about fully trusting in the Creator of the universe.
Through much trial and error, I have learned that trusting
in God is the only way to go. He has
never let me down, and I do not expect that He ever will. When your mother and I found out that we were
having a baby, so many thoughts of worry, fear, and doubt started to creep into
my mind. But, it was my Father in Heaven
that reassured me that he had everything under control. And every time I hold you in my arms, or see
that smile on your face, He reminds me that He is the author of my story.
So, my beautiful daughter, do not be anxious about anything,
but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your
requests to God (Philippians 4:6). Let
Him be in charge of your life. Give Him
full control. And always know that both
your father on earth and your Father in Heaven love you so very much. Continue to grow in knowledge and beauty
every single day.
-Daddy
